What Can This Uni Grade Calculator Do?
This tool is useful for university students of the UK who want to calculate their grades.Whether you are mid-term and ending your final semester, calculating by your credits and percentages, or checking one year or your full degree average.
Uni Grade Calculator
To calculate your grades, enter your marks and credit weights. This calculator instantly tells you whether you are on track for the first, second, or third year.
Uni Grade Calculator by Credits
Enter each credit value (of each subject, e.g., 10, 20, 30 credits) in the Weight column. Higher-credit subjects automatically count more, just like your university calculates it. There are no formulas needed — the tool does the calculations for you.
Uni Grade Calculator for Year 2 or 3
To calculate grades for a specific year, add that year's subjects and credit hours. Many students use this for Year 2 and Year 3 to track how each year is going. You can also combine years to get an overall average.
Final Uni Grade Calculator
At the end of your degree, enter all your subjects to see your final grade. Enable the "target grade" feature to find out exactly what mark you need in any remaining assessments to hit a First or 2:1.
Average Uni Grade Calculator
Skip the credit/weight field blank to switch the tool automatically to a simple unweighted average. It is useful when all your subjects carry equal marks.
Uni Grade Percentage Calculator
All results are displayed as a percentage (e.g., 67.4%), making it easy to see your classification scale on a UK degree. The tool also shows a US letter grade equivalent for international context.
How the Weighted University Grade is Calculated
A weighted university grade takes into account that not all subjects carry the same importance. Higher-credit subjects contribute more to your final grade. This is the standard formula used by most UK universities.
Weighted Average = (Mark₁ × Weight₁ + Mark₂ × Weight₂ + ...) ÷ (Weight₁ + Weight₂ + ...)
Example Calculation
A second-year student has three subjects:
| Module |
Mark (%) |
Credits |
| Data Structure |
66% |
20 |
| Databases |
55% |
10 |
| Digital Logic Design |
71% |
10 |
Weighted Average = (66×20 + 55×10 + 71×10) ÷ (20+10+10) = 64.5%
If all weights were equal or left blank, the simple unweighted average would be (66+55+71) ÷ 3 = 64.0%. The credit-weighted result is more accurate because it shows how your university actually scores your degree.
Calculating Your Grade for Year 2 or 3
Most UK universities weight your final two years more heavily than Year 1. A common split is Year 2 counting for 33% and Year 3 counting for 67% of your final degree grade (with Year 1 counting 0%). To use this uni grade calculator for Year 2 and Year 3 separately, enter only that year's subjects. To get a combined overall result, enter all subjects of both years with their full credit values, and the calculator handles the weighting automatically.
